Ford Police Interceptor Utility Carbon Monoxide Update

In an effort to keep our valued customers updated on the latest news surrounding the carbon monoxide issue with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles, we will be providing updates via the MHQ West website and our Facebook page.

Please know that we take this matter very seriously, as customer safety is of utmost importance to us. Several members of Team MHQ have been working closely with personnel at Ford Motor Company to better understand the circumstances surrounding the presence of carbon monoxide in the passenger compartments of some Ford Police Interceptor Utilities.

Ford Motor Company currently has several teams of engineers dispersed across the country to inspect various Interceptor Utility model years and build types (marked patrol, lo-profile, etc).

They are inspecting the vehicles for any areas from which exhaust could intrude into the passenger compartment. These areas include, but are not limited to: all grommets and drain plug locations, areas where upfitting wires have been run, and gaskets and moldings for the proper seal.

Ford is hard at work determining not only the cause, but the actions required to eliminate any possibility of carbon monoxide intrusion into the passenger compartment. Ford will publish a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) when they complete their inspections and determined the appropriate actions. Ford ensured us that they are committed to getting this resolved as quickly as possible.

We will post all new information and supportive documents and reports as they become available. Please see the links below for the current resources.

In addition, we invite you to watch this short video released from Ford’s Executive Vice President of Product Development & Purchasing.

As this issue is ongoing, we will update our customers as new information becomes available to us.

Sincerely,

Andy Strebe, Fixed Operations Director of MHQ West
