MHQ Joins SABE Volunteer Day to Help Build a Better Learning Environment
Sometimes the best way to support a community is to show up, grab a shovel, and get to work. That spirit was on full display when MHQ participated in SABE Volunteer Day in Rio Rancho, helping improve the school grounds and create a stronger learning environment for students.
The event brought volunteers together for a hands-on service project at the Sandoval Academy of Bilingual Education, a dual-language charter school focused on student growth, biliteracy, and a supportive educational experience.
A hands-on day of service
The flyer invited community members to “Help Lay the Gravel” and “Help Build a Better Learning Environment at SABE,” with volunteers needed on Saturday, April 18 from 8:00 a.m. until the work was done. The project focused on practical tasks such as shoveling, raking, and hauling gravel to improve campus space for students and staff.
That kind of project may look simple on paper, but it has a real impact. A cleaner, safer, and more welcoming campus helps reinforce an environment where children can focus, grow, and thrive.
The same attention to detail that goes into fleet upfitting and service work also shows up in the willingness to pitch in where help is needed most.
Supporting bilingual education
Sandoval Academy of Bilingual Education is a K–8 dual-language charter school in Rio Rancho that develops academic proficiency in Spanish and English through language immersion. The school’s mission is built around biliteracy, heritage-language support, and educational opportunity, making campus improvements especially meaningful to the families it serves.
By helping improve the physical space around the school, volunteers contributed to an environment that supports the broader mission of bilingual education and student success.
Community effort matters
Events like SABE Volunteer Day remind us that strong communities are built through shared effort. When local organizations, businesses, and volunteers come together, the result is more than one improved campus — it is a visible example of what community partnership can accomplish.
MHQ’s participation in the event is a good reminder that service does not always happen in a showroom, a shop, or on the road. Sometimes it happens with a rake, a shovel, and a few hours spent helping a school shine a little brighter.
